In other words, being afraid to break up with him out of fear of him doing something bad to you?

I was once for a long time. He was a truck driver and took crystal meth, (before it was a social thing.) They all (his friends and fellow drivers) took it to stay awake. It made him crazy as a loon! And mean as a snake!
I was with him for eight years until I finally got the police and bought a gun (at their suggestion!) and got away from him. It took a lot of courage, but when it was all over, he ended up in jail and I have never seen him since.
I am sure he is either in prison (from stealing stuff from his company) or dead by now.
It was a real nightmare. I have never known such fear. But I will never be afraid of a man again! I think I am strong enough now to stand up to the devil himself! (and I think I have run into him a time or two since!) lol

I did before but I got out.I was afraid because he lived next door to me.He started emailing me and calling me begging me to come back after he abused me mentally and physically. I changed my number and copied the emails which I gave to the police. I got a no contact order(not a restraining order). No contact order was just warning him he if came near me, he would be arrested.Restraining order is a court issued document.I would get out then wait for his first contact and warn him not to contacte you again or you will call the police.If he bothers you again,call the police and tell them that you asked him not to contact you and he still did and ask if they will tell him to leave you alone.

Never have, never will... What is worse? either way you live in fear... you can live in fear with him or without him... better to live in fear without him. You can always tell everybody. If everybody knows.. chances are he will leave you alone. Call the police, call everybody. Put it in the newspaper, tell his friends, family.. tell everybody.. but.. no matter.. end that one now....
