why do people put carbon fiber hood on their cars?

some people just do it for looks, but carbon fiber was made to save weight. Your OEM hood could weigh about 80lbs vs. a CF hood that would weigh about 30-40lbs. There are also CF body panels, like fenders, trunks etc...

Carbon fiber is almost like fiberglass only stronger and lighter.They use this material to make custom hoods with scoops that would be very difficult to stamp out in metal.

it's alot lighter then the stock hood, But depending on where you bought the hood, it can be as brittle as flaky paint, or as strong as steel
