You could very likely kill two birds with one stone by investing in the right type of air treatment system for your home.

Negative ions have been used to treat depression and naturally help the body regulate serotonin levels. Prozac affects your serotonin levels but is a chemical and has side effects. Negative ions occur naturally in the air and are highest inconcentration in forests, near waterfalls, and after rainstorms. That's one reason why we naturally feel good in those environments!

So if you invest in an air filter or treatment system that produces negative ions, has a HEPA filter to reduce particulate matter in the air (bad for sinuses, lung and heart) and an additional filter(s) for helping to deal with organic compounds, then you've got a winner!

Caution: most negative ion generators also produce ozone as a by-product. Ozone is toxis and prolonged exposure can damage your lungs.

I only know of one air treatment system that satisfies all of the above and uses a patented non-ozone negative ion generator. Which is why I have one on each floor of my house. I don't want this Answer to turn into an advertisement so e-mail me if you want a recommendation.

Organic apple cider vinager is good for allergies and St. John's Wart is good for depression. Make sure to talk to your doctor about using St. John's wart, because if you are pregnant or have other health issues it could interact badly with them.
