Montezuma's Revenge is a common term for digestive distress brought on by visiting Mexico--sometimes the water supply isn't as clean as we gringos are used to, and often the different food can trigger this sort of problem--and not just in Mexico.

When my son was in Iraq for the first time, one of the local dignitaries entertained his company at a dinner, and my son was sick for several days following. He assured me that the food was fine, but it just wasn't what he was used to. I've learned since from other experienced travelers that this phenomenon isn't all that uncommon.

Montezuma's Revenge is diarrhea. It has no real connection to Montezuma, but started when American tourists began going to Mexico and South America on vacation. The sanitation was terrible and drinking the water caused diarrhea.

Montezuma was killed in the 1500s and the phrase dates to the 1800s.

Syphilis. It is thought to be the only disease that crossed West to East after Europeans arrived in the Americas. There's no conclusive evidence that it existed in Europe prior to 1492, though there are many different points of view on the subject.

It relies upon on how mushy your abdomen is and the place you will. Mexico city is quite polluted and for this reason you need to take care to no longer eat on the streets case in point. Water? In maximum places water offered (purified water) so why might you fall ill? My British husband lived for years in Mexico with me and her never have been given ill from his abdomen.
