I saw in the newspaper last spring where an older gentleman in Indiana had built a roller coaster by himself in his backyard for him & his grandkids. It had one seat. I typed in: Indiana backyard coaster & found a couple websites. He called his coaster "Blue Flash". I believe it possibly was a car seat. It apparently was kind of a wickedly wild ride, so he was going to build another one & this time a little less wild. It has a loop in it & goes over the side of his garage or barn. One website I found is www.geocities.com/midwestamusementparks/blueflash.htm, Also it says it cost him $1500 to build it. Also one site gives his name as John Ivers. I couldn't find where he lives so far, but apparently rural Indiana. You could do further searches. Hope this helps. (the web address I copied keeps coming up short, not sure why, but rest of it is mentparks/blueflash.htm, or just type in: Indiana backyard coasters like I did in search field)

It cost several milion for the bigger ones and you need a lot of space. You'll also need architects and a lot of time to schedule people to work on it. You'll need a contractor (take bids) and then you'll need somebody to control it for you as well. You might be able to buy an old coaster and set it up yourself with a few cement pilars. The desighn will also affect the price. Loops, straight aways, speed, height...

Yes, but it depends on a few things...
How big is your back yard?
How much money do you have?
How big of a rollercoaster do you want?
Do you know someone that has the time, materials, and skill needed to build a rollercoaster?
These are a few factors, there is really much more involved. You may be better off just traveling to the nearest amusement park. Or maybe you should get rollercoaster tycoon for your pc. Good luck!

You probably need a local permit, given the noise, height etc.
I think it's pretty expensive and you will probably get tired of it sooner than you think. You should rather go to Six Flags.

you would have to do alot of research, but keep in mind, if you can afford the coaster, can you afford the insurance costs for it?
