Tshirt costs $18
6% sales tax on Tshirt = $18x6/100 = $1.08

T shirt costs = $18 + $1.08 = $19.08

Pair of Jeans costs $29
6% sales tax on Pair of Jeans = $29x6/100 = $1.74
Pair of Jeans costs = $29 + $1.74 = $30.74

Total cost = $19.08 + $ 30.74 = $ 49.82

You have $50
You do have enough monet to buy a Tshirt and a pair of jeans.

total price for t-shirt and jeans=29+18
=47
sales tax=(6/100)*47
=2.82
total price after sales tax=47+2.82
=49.82
49.82<50
therefore u have enough money to buy the stuff

Subtract 18 and 29 from 50. Then, multiply it by .06

First add the prices together: $18.00 + $29.00 = $47.00. Now, if the tax is 6%, that means you're adding 6% to the price. That's the same as multiplying by 1.06 (1 for the pre-tax price, and 0.06 for the tax). $47.00 * 1.06 = $49.82, so you can afford them both. Barely.
