Because dumb rednecks are easily duped. They don't realize they're getting raped by evil, thieves that call themselves Christians. They'd rather watch Nascar and think everything is ok while all our soldiers die. I am a Gulf War vet (E-5, 91A, 93rd evac Hospital) who is appalled by the war profiteering by cheney and Haliburton. How do people still stand up for these lunatic, Bible-thumping pedophiles. It is SICK!

Good question...it's a mystery to me -- The Bushes and the Walkers are both old money New England families. Personally, I wouldn't mind having a a beer or going bowling with a "regular guy" but I don't want one for a president.
Edit -- Clinton grew up poor and got into Yale and Georgetwon due to his intellegence and academic performance -- hardly a "patrician". He went to public schools in Arkansas.

I guess it's his cute little smile and he isn't bad looking either. I have never heard a southern accent on him yet and have never seen him in cowboy boots.
I like him because he does what he thinks is right, and does not let the morons dissuade him from what he thinks is the correct thing to do.
I suppose Kerry is a good old guy , who studied real hard then married a millionaire. The fact he looks like Lurch might help with the good old boy status!

But, he's a born-again Christian and God is on his side....as a matter of fact, he talks to God every day and God answers back. And the conservatives love that kind of crap. The other factor is that he comes across so common because he makes all those mistakes when he tries to talk, mispronouncing words etc. He sold the American people a bill of goods and they bought into it.

While he went to elite schools, that doesn't make him an elitist. Are you saying that Gore & Kerry are elitists?

It's his feeble attempts at impersonating Ronald Reagan, especially in the days just following RR's death. He was out there in a cowboy vest, acting like he was this out-doorsy, horseback rider guy. It was sad.

I should think the utter lack of intelligence is his most appealing feature to that particular demographic.
