this is the response usually given when a parent for any number of reasons doesn't want to end up caring for the pet when the child grow tired or bored with it.

Perhaps you can talk to your mom and find out the reasons why she doesn't want you to have one. If she is concerned about cleaning up after it, maybe you can make sure that you are doing everything you can to clean up around your room and help clean around the house. If she's worried about your level of responsibility, maybe you could point out that what better why to learn then having a pet?! ;) if it something like allergies or personal hang ups, you need to respect her opinion for now and then maybe ask her again in a few months.

But from personal experience, nagging about getting one is the absolute worse thing you can do. good luck :)

You do know that you don't just buy a hamster and a cage, right? They need toys and an exercise wheel and food and stuff to chew on. Also, hamsters tend to bite.

If you are determined to have one, try this: show your mom that you can take care of a plant first. If you can keep a plant alive and thriving, then you can take care of a pet. Tell your mother that this is your way of "practicing" responsiblity for another living thing. After about a month of your plant not dying, she may change her mind about the hamster.

Also, consider other types of pets. She may just have a thing about rodents.

Been there , done that . Let her know how responsible you are. Dont act too miserable. You could start by cleaning up the house e.t.c If you have a teddy bear or stuffed animal, treat it as if it were real and dont be ashamed to kiss it.Basically, in everything you do act like a real mother.Trust me this will work.

Well I've done this b4. Show her your responsible and will take care of it. Like taking care of other things that are valuable and letting her know(by telling her) how good u took care of it. Also do some extra chores. That always seems to get them. And plus when you're talking to her about getting it REMEMBER to say "All you have to do is drive me their. You don't have to buy a thing"
Nowadays adults are all about money. So I'm sure that will work.

What's the reason your mom won't let you have one? Have you shown her the research you have collected on how to take care of one properly? If not, then I suggest you learn and then show her exactly what you have found on the Internet to show her how serious you are and have the knowledge for what you need to take care of one the right way. Here are a couple of links to help you learn what it REALLY takes to care for a hammie.

Have you tried starting even smaller, like a fish? Your mom may think you are not old or responsible enough to care for a rodent.

Negotiate or however you spell it. Tell her what you will do to take care of it, stuff like that. Then if you end up getting it, it usually turns out that other people will end up doing all the work.

Tears big ol alligator tears. But you do realize that they are alive and have to be cared for right? If you plan to promise her you will take care of it and keep it in your room and she will never know its there.

beg her and show her that you're responsible enough. if you buy it, it's actually not really gonna be her responsibility anyway, legally it will be yours cause you payed for it.
