where do i find free furniture like a website other than craigslist?

Check austin.craigslist.org (no www) There is a free column and if you check it often and respond fast, you should be able to furnish a whole house for free. We sometimes claim stuff and garage sale it!
I love craigslist. My son needed a trombone for school and I am unemployed and couldn't afford one. I posted on Craigslist to see if someone would loan him one until I could buy one and I got 3 offers for free instruments in less than 2 hours. My son now owns his own trombone and I'm forever grateful to the man who gave it to him.
Another suggestion, students are pretty careless with stuff mom and dad bought so check the apartment garbage cans near the end of the month and you may find discarded furniture in perfectly fine condition.

yes, go to goodwill or salvation army, they have free furniture if you qualify
