The independent woman in my opinion is self serving and does not need anyone to help her stand. She can be successful in the workplace and at home, and knows how to balance both. She does not need to be financially taken care of, either by a man or her parents. She will also know how to have fun. You can be an independent woman and still have a spouse and kids. Independence is all in how you think - not act. If you feel independent, then you will be. I try to think of myself as an independent woman, even though I still live with my parents. I am self sufficient, and don't rely on them to make my decisions. I know that when I have a family of my own, I will raise my sons or daughters the same way that I have been, but with my own flavor.

This "Independent Woman" thing has all happened during my lifetime.
What I think is they are totally out of control!
If Children are born to women who are independent, they are treated more like a possession or a new puppy than as a human being that needs to be nurtured and taken care of. They are just slung around and have no foundation to build their lives on.
It is a tragedy for children - the misery that they must go through because of their 'mother's' giant ego -"Mamma is very important in the world. She has to go be the queen of the sock factory or the discount store or the bank. She is much too important to stay at home with you."
How does it make the kids feel while they are being transported to the babysitter - who doesn't love them, by the mother who doesn't love them because she is too important.
"Oh but I don't do it for my ego - we REALLY need the money!"
For your second car? So you can have a big 'fashionable' home? So you can have all those clothes you don't need - with the ego stroking labels? Because you choose to dress your children in the very best brands that money can buy?
Kids would rather have their mom's arms around them while sitting home in a shack than to be little 'special' person!
Look at the screwed up kids today if you need proof.
I feel very strongly about women being mothers and then trying to maintain an independent status!
The truly independent woman should be smart enough and CONSIDERATE enough not to give birth.

independent woman is the ideal woman
since history, women were looked down upon in society but now, they are redefining the gender role
women can do the things men can but men seem to be intimidated by dominance and competition

Well, here is a good one... when I first got married, I asked my husband what it was that made him fall in love with me.. he said "because you are strong, independent, you do not need anybody, you are tootsie",... then when we got divorced, I asked him what do you supposed changed? he said "because you never do anything I tell you to do, you just do things without asking, you are tootsie, you do what ever you want" hahahahaha.. sooooo had I changed??? not at all... so to all you men, are you really sure you want an independent woman???
