unfortunatly, I am one of those who doesn't hold back. at the first sign of conflict, I'm ready to go. Damn the consequences. I had to attend court ordered "Anger Management" classes and in my experience, if you tried some of the tips they gave you, you'd get beaten. For example, when you feel anger, you should tell the person what they have said or done to hurt you. well, yeah it sure sounds good but real life doesn't quite work that way.

I don't know that hold back anger, but I do know that I am able to control it in that I never let it take control of my actions, such as throwing things, etc. However, at times some less than perfect words slip out. When I feel anger I also able to recognize the new mental state that has arrived, and by this am able to check what the anger is allowed to do. I do not think that holding anger back can hurt you in any way, but not dealing with the sources of anger may take a toll after time.

Well.. it depends on what/whom I am angry with. This is a good question, it has me thinking.. I don't think I hold things back.. I have to do my screaming and yelling.. but.. it don't last long.. after I vent, I get it out of my system, then it is over with. I do spit out the venomous words, and I have said things that I regret.. but.. for those that you love, and love you, there is an understanding, well in my life there is. If I am pissed off at an inanimate object, it is getting kicked or thrown haha..I don't hold back.. holding back for me can keep the anger alive. I would rather get it over with, and be happy in 10 minutes than lose any sleep over it.

It depends on how angry I am. If only a little ticked, I hold my tongue. If I am really angry, I will say whay I feel. I do think that there is a time, and a place for everything. Everyone, every case is different when dealing with anger. I find it best to deal with anger when it occurs, not wanting to waste the energy, and do something constructive with my anger, like work harder, take a jog.

I think about the whole situation and the best way to go about resolving it. You can't hold it in, this is very unhealthy, but you can think before you speak so you don't hurt anyone. If you can't tell that certain person, vent to a friend, but whatever you do, don't keep it inside. You'll repress all these feelings for a long time, then one day, BOOM - You're psychotic over issues that should've/could've been dealt with a long time ago...

When I am angry I get very quiet.
I do not say what I am thinking.

I listen to the other person very
hard and try to find out what is
making them feel the way they
do, or say what they are saying.

If you say anything, you just
escalate the situation and
that always ends up bad.

I say a mantra, which is known as The Serenity Prayer. I spent many years going off on people, and I attempt to take a better path and think first.
Sometimes it is difficult to let things go but if I don't it's harder on me than it is on them.

well, may sound silly but really you should take several slow deep breathes, (very important) relax shoulders and neck.. close your eyes.. for about a minute. Also it does help to do some sort of vigerous excercise.. boxing.. running.
