the denominator should not be zero
so 3(x+1) should not be zero
x+1 should not be zero
x should not be -1

If x = 0, then your second term becomes 1/0, which is undefined. Therefore x cannot equal 0. this is your only restriction and would be stated as:
(x not= 0)
Finding the restrictions simply means to find all the values that would cause the solution to either be undefined or not a member of the set of real numbers. You problem is an example of the first case. An example of the second might be:
SQRT(1 - x^2)
Since the square root of negative are not in the realm of real numbers, x must be restricted such that (-1 <= x <= 1)
Not too hard, huh?

The only restriction is that x must be different of zero else 1/3 x will be infinite

f(x) = 8x + 1/3 x + 3
f(x) = 8 1/3 x + 3
f(x) = 25/3 x + 3
if x > -9/25, f(x) is positive
if x < -9/25, f(x) is negative
if x = -9/25, f(x) = 0

The restriction of the solution isn't what you need to worry about. What you need to worry about is that the St. Louis Cardinals are World Champions.
Wins over the Padres+Mets+Tiges=Cardinals 2006 World Series Champions!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!
Yeah I umm...have no idea what you're talking about. But good luck with your science problem.

x can not be any value which gives a denominator of 0.
so...
3x+3 =not 0
3x =-3
x can not equal -1

not particular about your "factoring" of the polynomial, yet want to confirm the entire expression to confirm what's going to be a significant mixture. attempt typing out the entire component, and we are going to see if there is something which may be dome to assist.
