I would call the them today and ask them politely to pick up thier boxes by (your next trash day) or you will have to put them out for trash. Tell them you no longer have the space to store them and you were nice enough to extend the time limit from 2 weeks to 2 months. Follow up with a certified letter with return receipt for proof.

It depends on the person - if it is a good friend or family member, I wouldn't toss it, you could make an enemy out of someone who means a lot to you.

If it's not, I would contact them first and ask them when they are planning on picking up their things. Give them advanced notice that it's been longer than you had agreed upon. Tell them you need the space, and they have to pick up their things in the next 2 weeks or you will have to throw it out.

You could have thrown them out after the 2 weeks is up. You were doing a favor for them. It's not your responsibility to keep track of their belongings. Is there anyway you can get it on record or in writing that you were only supposed to hold on to them for 2 weeks. You wouldn't want anyone taking you to court for throwing there possesions out. Even though you don't need to be bothered by someone else's trash. Go ahead and throw it out. Better yet, have a garage sale and get money for their belongings.

Did she pay you to store her boxes ? or was it just a favour you was doing her ?
If she paid you , then I would wait till the time is up that she paid you for . ....but it sounds like she just up and left ~if she never left you a forwarding address.or phone number, and it sounds like you have had trouble contacting her,I
If you dont hear from her in a couple of weeks I would
(a) sell her stuff on Ebay
(b) Tell the police ..if there is anything suspicious in there.
However if she just up and left like that , then it seems that there was nothing of real value to her and I would sell her stuff, and recoup some money for your troubles.

Look in the boxes. If you see anything suspicious, then turn them into the Police as "lost property" & give them the persons name who left them there. If you have no name & have no paperwork, then those boxes are considered your property & you can be held responsible for whatever is inside of them!

Send a certified letter, return receipt requested, giving a reasonable deadline to move it or lose it. Two weeks would be considered reasonable. After that, dispose of it as you see fit.

well most companys only hold items for up to 30 days so its up to you. Be careful thought incase some one wants to make an issue out of it. Just to be same get some free legal advice from a local lawyer that way you do get taken to court for it

Remind them that the boxes are there and tell them you need the space back. Give them a time limit and tell them after that you will haver to put it on the curb. It is up to them to get it.

Send that person a certified letter stating that he/she has 2 weeks to remove said items, or they will be thrown away at their expense.

I'm thinking 6 months is the limit, however i would notify the person in writing first.
