You could start by looking at some specific area of pop culture such as film, politics or fashion. Then you could interview persons in 2 or 3 separate age groups about their views and how and why these have changed in the last few years. This should get you started.
There are several web sites on popular culture that may give you some ideas. One is americanpopculture.com

The youth of today are easily mesmerized by what they watch on MTV and when they play the latest violent video game such as San Andreas. The glorification of sex and violence in today's get rich quick society has negatively impacted America's youth.

nicole richie, Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan Super thin sluts. That makes all the media go wild on that which the youth reads then they want to be just like them so they develope eating disorders and buy slutty clothes. and the parents don't notice any of this because they are to busy in their 40 hour work weeks to pay the slightist bit of attention to their kids.
Hope that helps

Try self esteem issues, the pressures to be perfect, the encourage meant of trends. I would start off with pressures to be perfect or something like that then continue to how it affects their self-esteem. Good Luck!
