Since I am a 13 year old Jewish boy, and have had my Bar-Mitzvah, I can help you. Many people just give checks, and that's a completely normal gift. That is what most gifts will be, so that is totally normal. The amount of money in the check really just depends how well your children know them. If you've become family friends or if you're daughters are like best friends with them, then it would be better to give on the higher side. If you want to give a gift you will have to find out what the girl having the Bat-Mitzvah likes, and that also depends on how close your family, or your daughters are to the girl having the Bat-Mitzvah.
I hope that helps!

Something that you would give them fot their birthday, but better. It depends on how you are financially- but I know the things I liked best were gift certificates and jewelry, which is probably the best thing (the checks I got are put into my college savings account) to get them if they are a girl. The cost of it can be anywhere between $25 and $100 per guest, but it depends on how well you know them (ie you'd give more to a close friend than a casual aquaintance). If it is a guy, give him an american express gift card or a gift card to a store he likes (safest things) and a nice card. For a girl do the same thing, but you can also have jewelry instead.
During the service they should be polite (as if they were in church, ie no cellphones, and no loud talking). What they should wear should also be appropriate for church, but it depends on the synagogue (orthodox, reform, conservative), as well as the type of party (evening parties tend to be fancier than luncheons). But treat it as you would a sweet sixteen or a confirmation.

Ok, Bat Mitzvah refers to a Jewish girl coming of age (entering adulthood) in the eyes of God so I will assume this is for a girl. I suggest something that has to do with this journey into adulthood. Perhaps a diary or journal, an inspariational book like the "Chicken Soup" series of books. Other books that will help guide her into womanhood.

Your daughter can give her friends whatever nice gift she would give for a birthday party.
Jewelry is a nice choice and there should be a Judaic store somewhere in your town for something with a Jewish theme.
Have fun at the party.

Whatever the host would like. I gave my friend a purse and a matching cosmetic case for her Bat Mitzvah.

Perhaps, you should put in a phone call to the mother of the child. Ask them what would be appropriate, and bounce a few ideas off of them. You don't want to bring something the child already has, or that the parent wouldn't approve of.
