Doctor No starring Sean Connery was the first Bond film but the first book was Casino Royale. Dr No together with From Russia With Love were probably the only two books that followed the plot of the books. Later films were given the Hollywood treatment and lost all credibility to fans of Ian Flemings books. I would urge everyone to read the books, they're fascinating.

Asa a matter of fact Bond was Scottish and born in 1920. He served in World War II in the Navy reaching the rank of Commander. All the Bond adventures were set in the years 1953 to 1962. Ian Fleming died in 1963 and none of his books had car chases, speedboat races, over the top stunts or huge sooty explosions. Also it was important for Bond to keep his identity secret unlike the characters portrayed in the films as everybody seemed to know 'the famous Mr Bond, Secret Service Agent.'

Dr No was 1962 with Connery and Casino Royale was 1967 with David Niven. Wasn't there a US TV movie of Casino Royale in the 1950s?

Dr. No (1962), with Sean Connery, was the first film in James Bond film series from Eon Productions.

In addition, and generally considered "unofficial", Barry Nelson portrayed Bond in an Americanised television episode adaptation of Casino Royale in 1954. Bob Holness portrayed James Bond in a 1956 South African radio adaptation of Moonraker. David Niven played the role in a non-EON production of Casino Royale in 1967, and Connery reprised the character in another non-EON film, Never Say Never Again in 1983.

Ian Fleming's 1953 Casino Royale book, the first Bond novel, the spy was introduced as a more youthful, realistic and cold character than the films.

The book was also one of the most violent in the series, with the heroic secret agent taking a beating from his rival Le Chiffre, and gadget-master Q was not present.

Casino Royale was turned into a spoof spy movie in 1967, with David Niven in the lead role.

no longer a lot of a Moore as Bond fan, yet I enjoyed "stay and enable Die" and " the guy With the Golden Gun". maximum suitable Bond? Sean Connery. regarded the main deadly and ruthless of the Bonds. MY well known Bond movies. Goldfinger. License to Kill. because of the fact Bond isn't on the interest, he's out for revenge and shows he's as ruthless because of the fact the undesirable adult men. Nasty villain, almost as nasty Bond. could have been suitable for Connery in his youthful days. stay and enable Die. Voodoo and Jane Seymour. the guy With the Golden Gun. Christopher Lee made an magnificent villain.

Even before Sean Connery starred as Bond in Dr. No, he was played in a live television movie by American Barry Nelson, with Peter Lorre as the antagonist, Le Chiffre.
