I started my periods at age 11 and they were very heavy and painful and lasted 8-10 days. My sister started at age 14 and hers only lasted 2-3 days. We're all different, each woman's cycle is individual. If your daughter is in a lot of pain take her to the doctor, s/he may suggest some treatment.

the average period lasts 5-7 days. I've had some that lasted as long as 8. It's entirely normal. (and don't take this the wrong way, but as a parent with a daughter old enough to be menstruating, you should know this already)

I wouldn't worry it's her first one, maybe she's been ready for a while and has a lot of mensis stored up, sometimes i have had 5/6 day periods, it probably won't be as long next time if it persists past 6 days i would go to a doctor.

It's normal - when you start your period, it is highly irregular. I had a two-day period, a 4-month break, then a six-day long period and a 44-day break. It takes time to adjust. If she is still having week-long periods after several months, then you should get it checked out.

That sounds about normal. A cycle can last 3-10 days.

Ok, well that's totally normal. Average periods last 7 days...personally mine last 6 days and they can last as long as they need to, to get all the unfertilized eggs out. If this is her first period, then her body will need time to even out her cycles. That's all I know to tell ya chick. :)

Some people do bleed longer. i have a period for 7-9 days its normal.

Oh that is totally normal...I get mine for at least 5 days...If it lasts over 10 I would see a doctor.

I don't know really, but I DO know, that when had my first one, it lasted a long while as I recall.
I'm just guessing here, but maybe that's the norm, for first periods.
