Question about Jared Padalecki on Supernatural...?

Question

I know in the show Sam broke his arm (episode - Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things) but I was wondering if Jared broke his arm in real life and that's why they had him do it in the show? I only ask because he's had a cast on his right arm for a couple of episodes now and sometimes when they break something in the show it's because the actor does it in real life (ex. Josh Duhamel ruptured his achilles' heel in real life and they had him break something in an episode)

...so does anyone know if Jared really broke his arm or is it just on the show? thanks! :)

Apparently Jared broke his hand during filming and it had to be written into the script.

Jensen Ackles hands down! Jared's hair is bad in the show.
