I regret there remain so many who feel Iraq is no better off now than when Saddam was leading it... They have fallen prey to the hate mongering which has run rampant in this country. They need to talk to the military people who come back with rather amazing stories...Much different than what we are led to believe, by the media and a certain political group.
As far as Bush being responsible for many deaths... if they were not insurgents or protecting insurgents, they would not be dead. The killing that is taking place now is something which has been going on for thousands of years.. tribal battles.
To correct a comment made by one of the posts.. Hitler was never taken captive!
Saddam deserves the same as was meted out to Mussolini. Just turn him loose in one the market places in the Shiite district.

With Adolf hitler, no one went against him untill he started taking over country after country. and basically got his power from a country that was ground down from WWI penaltys (Adolf took germany from a poor country to one that came very close to taking over the world)
Saddam Hussein was put in place by the USA. He was took out by the USA.
"Allowed his people to starve" ???
There have been more deaths (many related to poor food, water, and medicine) in the last 2 years then their ever was under his regime. WAS he a Despot? yes. A bad leader? yes.. but the country was better off then the current situation they find themselves in..

I agree with you. He has every right to die seeing how many people he has killed. It's just like if Hitler or Stalin was alive today, they would both be sentenced to death for all the killings they have done.
Even though some crazy "loyal" people in Iraq will be upset by this, I'm sure the majority of this world will be glad to see him gone, though violence isn't always the answer.

Saddam deserves death for everything that he has done. He can definitely be considered a 21st Century Hitler. However, Hitler took his own life after being imprisoned, and I don't feel that Saddam is that cowardly. He'll go down in a blaze of fire somehow.

Who cares?? He's this guy in his mid-seventies who has nothing left but his pride....There was definitely a look of fear in his eyes when the reading of the sentence was done....he may be an awful person in the world, but no way does he compare to Adolf...if he had not been sentenced to be hanged, he would have probably died in his prison cell from old age or food poisoning or something...By hanging him, he will be going out with a bang and not a whimper

Well heres a starter for your debate>
Assume that Hitler had won the war, would Churchill and the allied leaders have been hung, for crimes against humanity?
(Or don't you think they committed any? I don't think the Japanese would agree with that)!!
It has often been said that "History is written by the victor", I think that's true.
Imagine the 'History' of the second world war if Hitler had won!
Imagine any 'History' if the vanquished had been the victors!!
Just thought I would start the ball rolling!!

Yes, I agree with you, but still, it's wrong. Not only do you not have the right to impose our ideals on somebody else, but what you do is just as bad. America has poor, America has criminals. What gives you the right to judge, when all of your problems aren't solved either? You have capital punishment, and people die. The rich live in huge mansions and the poor live on the street. Criminals get away with all sorts of things because no matter what, you cannot catch them all. Why are you superior?

He was a horrible man and I don't agree with him at all but he shouldn't be killed. I don't believe in the death penalty and he should be no exception. He deserves to spend the rest of his life in jail but not tortured or killed because that's just not right.
