I wrote a long post on my blog. I am just wondering if there is anyone else out there that has gone though this before?

"I know that my mother would never want me to keep her in this state and I know that she would never want to be in a home. I am just so damn mad because I have to make this decision, It is the scariest decision of anyone's life - choosing to let your mother die in front of you."

The Whole Story:

I HAD TO MAKE THIS SAME DECISION ONCE, IT WAS FOR AN AUNT, GRANTED NOT AS CLOSE AS A MOM BUTSTILL REAL DIFFICULT!! YOU HAVE TO HONOR YOU MOM'S WISHES, SHE TRUSTED YOU WITH HER LIVING WILL! IF IT'S A MATTER OF STOPPING LIFE SUPPORT, THEN DO AS SHE ASKED, IF SHE'S ABLE TO BREATH ON HER OWN, AND YOUR CHOICE IS HOME OR A NURSING FACILITY, TAKE HER HOME.THERE IS PLENTY OF HELP OUT THERE, HOSPICE WOULD BE THE BEST!! GOD BLESS YOU, IT ISN'T EASY, BUT DO WHAT MOM ASKED......REMEMBER SHE TRUSTED YOU TO MAKE THIS DECISION!!

I was raised by my grandparents and always had a strong bond to my grandpa. He had had cancer around 1978, which was when I was born. He had numerous strokes and heart problems from that time on. Every time the doctor would tell him that the next one would get him, and he just kept working on the farm. It was not until about 4 heart attacks, over 200 strokes, and two more bouts with cancer later, that he finally give up and retired in 1997. Two years after that he had cancer come back in his lympnodes, and I will never forget him saying that he has lived his life and that he didn't want to be cooked and cut on. He went down hill for the next year and a half and begged not to be put in a nursing home, which we complied with. He finally passed away, and when it happened, it tore the family apart and I never have gone back to see my grandma, mom, sister, or any of the family for the past 3 years. Why? I havent a clue!
