The Acer Aspire 3623, has a slightly bigger screen, A little faster processor, 128mb deidcated graphics memory, 40gb hard drive, a dvd-rom and a load of extras.. the only thing the compaq has thats better is a 60gb hard drive. Both have the same ram, although the acer has more dedicated to the graphics on top of the standard ram. Go for the Acer Aspire, it's got much more.

I would say if I had to choose a Compaq. I had one for 3 years and loved it. My work has the Acer Aspire and the thing always locks up when trying to run programs.
