You Yanks should just ban the things.
You're always going on about your "right to bear arms" and then wondering why things like Columbine High School happen and 1000s of people get killed by guns every month over there.

Your constitution was written a long time ago and you're not pioneers having to face rampaging bears and bobcats and scalp hunting Natives anymore! You don't need guns.
I'm just glad they are illegal in the UK. There is no reason for anyone to own one unless he's a policeman, soldier or something and then he'll know how to use it properly.

An odd question, and I feel it makes too much of a generalization to be true.
Political affiliation really has no impact on one's ability to operate a gun. No matter what their postion on the political spectrum, I predict that the majority of sane people would quickly (if provided with a standard firearm and approprate ammuntion) be able to "Use a gun"

They can call 911. The cops and the meatwagon will show in about 45 minutes.
Their ideas are dangerous enough.
But then if you take a Lib shooting (not holding the target), they realize all their preconceptions and fears about gun ownership were wrong.
A gun in hand is better than a cop on the phone.
