I would s ay a house becomes a home when it becomes a place of emotional as well as physical comfort. When it's your "nest" and not just a place full of "stuff" that you have bought over time.... perhaps in some cases, to be "one up on the Joneses". A house is a place that shelters you f rom the weather outside. A home is an"envionment" that radiates contentment and goodwill. Haven't you ever walked into somebody's house and felt that atmosphere that seems to wrap itself around you with a warm cosiness?,,,,,,,,, Then there are other houses you can go in and instantly it feels more like being in the office of your employer, waiting for him to come in and lecture you about your screw-up LOL.
I remember the home of my childhood. It sure wasn't fancy, and nobody from Better Homes and Gardens would have ever come calling wanting to take pictures LOL. But whenever I think of it, I remember getting home from school each day, walking through the door and having that "safe" feeling. It was my "mousehole" and the big bad cat couldn't get me LOL. I know there are a lot of "rich kids" who have never had what I had, and I think that is something that hasn't changed.

House is the phyiscal form of a place we stay in.. Basically, the house is a form of building, with rooms, doors, windows and a roof over it...
However, a home basically involves the emotional attachment to the house you live in.. when you are going back to a house full of your loved ones (ie family, boyfriend, dogs) or memories, then you are going home.or when you are going back to a place when you feel at ease, you are considered going home too...
it is also a place when you feel the safest and secured both physically or emotionally...

When is it not a home? Does a home need to have walls, floors, and rooms equipped with utilities? Or can a home be living in the wilderness in a tent or in a cardboard box? Some may consider that a home.
A house is a home when one says it's a home.

A house becomes a home when you are sharing with your wife/husband.
I've been married, to the same woman, for 34 years and that's what makes our house a home.

When you make it your home. I live in a small bachlorette pad and I have my paintings on the walls and have decorated it with things that suit my personality. I've lived all over the place and this is the first place that feels like a home (other then when I was young and lived with my mom.) I love coming home to it.
