wrapping it like it came from santa, and leaving on the doorstep of an 'underpriviledged' family as a christmas present to yourself.
Just a thought.

anyone considered this?

not that organised charities aren't great for alot of things, but most aren't local, and even when they are, I generally don't want my donations to be eaten by 'c.e.o.'s" or the beaurocracies that run them.
(anyway, it was as a 2 way present, you AND them.)

I think that is a really nice idea - besides, that way you know that the person/people receiving it are needy. And you can witness their joy from afar when you know who recieved the gift. What a thoughtful gift.

I believe you have a big heart...go with your thoughts!

Our church has a giving tree...you take a name..only the first name, with their Christmas wish...and wrap it up with the name tag placed on the top of the box...and leave it under the tree. It has children, the homeless, the elderly, and those who just want a gift certificate to a grocery store...sometimes they can buy with food stamps but they are not permitted to buy soap and toilet paper ....imagine that!

When I have stuff like that I always donate it to an organized charity. They are much better than I am at realizing who needs it the most.

Um...that's really sweet, great idea, but...what if they don't see themselves as underprivileged? They may have the richest, warmest most loving family and that may be an insult to them...I guess it depends on if you know them or not, and if so, go right ahead...Just remember, it may cause them embarassment, even if they are grateful.

I think it's a great idea, especially if they don't belong to a church. So many churches want something in return. (Membership, service, etc)
