In this day and age, I would love to say no, but sadly, I think if a woman is childless, society still thinks she has not reached her full potential as a female. I'm a 'western' woman, and I had my first baby last December, and he's the best thing in my life, but before I had him, people would always ask me 'when' I am having children, not 'if'. It is so expected, in most quarters anyway. Now I have a child, I can sense that I'm treated differently, not pointedly, but as if I'm now a 'real' woman, and I have to admit, that having my baby has made me a much more confident person. I remember reading about the 66 Romanian woman, who had a baby girl last year, and she said "A woman who has not had a child has not lead a complete life". In a sense, I sort of agree, but I don't think women should be judged on this, yes, they haven't experienced what it is to give new life, but it does not make them any less a person. Interestingly, what do you think about men? What does society think of childless men? Anybody who doesn't procreate?

I felt a bit left out in our road, since everyone has children, and they all go to parties together etc, but of late I've managed to make friends with them and I get invited too!!

Honestly it depends on what society you live in. In China you would be valued as someone who cares about her countries well being, in the Middle East you would be thought of as nothing. In The Western countries(Europe and America) you would be thought of as an assertive women who wants to wait. It all depends on where you live. Then again nuns never have children and people value them, so I guess your location and occupation would decide.

I disagree with that assertion. numerous women people who've great careers or by no skill found Mr. good have sturdy lives. Being Childless isn't a criminal offense. incredibly mom hood isn't for each individual. do no longer permit judgmental women difficulty you. Marriage fails extra desirable than make it on the instant time and time. Your friends do no longer look down on you in basic terms the previous - college.

No, the days of a woman's value being determined by breeding capacity are gone. it is no longer a woman's only true skill to be a mother and this is a very good thing since not all women are cut out to be moms and the wisest of them know this to be true and focus their energies elsewhere.

I'm 34 years old and have never had children. I'm sure there are people in my age or older who think I'm being selfish, but why would I want to bring a helpless being into a world full of hate & sorrow (that would be selfish to me)? I think it depends on someone's culture.

It depends on the culture. Not Western society, no, but there are cultures where a women would be devalued if she couldn't/didn't bear children.
