A syrian or a pair of dwarfs needs at least a ten gallon aquirium. Syrians, Black bears, teddy bears, and panda bears are all the same thing, just different markings. Those cannot live together NO MATTER WHAT ANY ONE SAYS! All varities of dwarfs how ever mostly perfer a same sex buddy. 82 degrees is about a good temp. for a hammy. They love to hoard food, chew, eat, sleep, and cuddle, oh and the all so necessary wheel with a solid floor not runged ones!!!!!

They come from the desert, so they need to be kept in a warm and draft free place. They are nocturnal, sleep all day awake at night. They eat seeds, they love sunflower seeds, but should only have them as occasional treats so they don't get fat! They are quite active at night and a good wheel will keep them entertained for hours (metal ones work the best and if it starts to squeek use a food grade oil(vegtable, canola, olive ect) to oil it) Their teeth don;t ever stop growing so they'll need plenty of things to chew(wood, cardboard ect) on to keep their teeth trimmed down.

Hamsters are very funny hamsters and they live in like 70 degree climate and they need a big house, the bigger the better. and don't put two hamsters in one cage they will tear each other up, if you know what i mean. also hamsters need a little ball to run in. omg one time i was watching my hamster friskey in the ball when he fell down the stairs he was ok but it must ahve hurt. real bad just watch out for that GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR HAMSTER!

usally hamsters are pretty nice, but some times they can get evil. they can bite pretty hard. also don't keep it in a cold room, they don't live very long there. if your planing to get one, I would get a baby. they should live longer and they are easier to tame. also they love those little ball things.its fun to watch them roll around. remeber to shut the cage door too. its no fun looking in tight spaces for a hamster. when you hold your hamster, make sure to lift it out of the cage carfully and cup your hands like a bowl and you and your rodent friend will be perfectly happy

Here is alot of info that will help!
...When dwarf hamsters are pregnant, you can determine the sex of the babies! By controlling the temperature in the room the mother is kept, you can manipulate whether she will have more boys or girls. If you keep her in warmer temperatures, she will have more boys. If you keep her in cooler temperatures, she will have more girls. If hamster babies are born weak or dead, their mother will eat them.
Golden Hamsters sometimes eat their own waste to conserve water
When they go into hibernation, their body gets so cold that owners should wake up their hammy in order to keep him alive! -
Hamsters are color blind.
Baby hamsters are called pups.
Hamsters have 16 teeth, but only 4 teeth are visible.
Roborovski Dwarfs are the smallest kind of hamster.
...Hamsters can remember their relatives.
...Hamsters can be taught how to come by name.
...Dwarf hamsters live about 1.5 to 2 years but can live to be 4.
...Dwarf hamsters' breeding season is from April to September. But, if kept in lighting that stays on for eight hours or more a day, they will continue to breed throughout the entire year.
...Female dwarf hamsters can give birth as young as five weeks. This is not recommended though. You should wait until she is at least 3 months old.

...Hamsters cannot be spayed or neutered. In order to stop pregnancy, you must separate the male and female.
...If your hamster's toe nails are getting long, it is possible to clip their nails at home. Use baby nail clippers and clip off the very ends of the nails. Don't clip too short! Or, try lining the hamster's running wheel with fine grain sandpaper, and the ends of his nails will be worn down while he runs.
...Does your hamster avoid his chewsticks and chew on his cage bars? Then try giving him dog biscuits. They're hard, tasty, and wear down his teeth. He will want to chew on the biscuit rather than the cage.Hamsters belong to the rodent family. The name “hamster” is derived from the German word “hamstern” which means “to hoard”. Wild hamsters live in hot areas of Central Asia. To avoid the heat of the day hamsters live in burrows and are nocturnal.
In the cool of the evening and during the night hamsters will search for food - and can travel up to 8 miles in one night. They collect food in their cheek pouches and return to their burrows and empty the cheek pouches into their food store. They are able to carry up to half their body weight in their pouches
