There are numerous reasons as to why a person doesn't conceive. The most qualified person to tell you if there was any damage done from the abortion is your gynecologist. Then next time you have a check up, ask (or make a special appointment just to ask).

An abortion can sometimes hinder getting pregnant because of the scaring left behind. Having a check-up after the abortion would not have made a difference; that is to say, if scaring took place the check-up would not have changed it. Although, I would not despair. Sometimes, woman have difficulties getting pregnant regardless of a previous abortion. If you are not eating right, if you are overweight or underweight, if you are stressed (emotionally or physically), these can all be factors in hindering your present ability to get pregnant. I would advise you to go see a gyno to put your mind at ease and rule out what you fear, or any other factor that may be causing you to reach your goal.

Why didn't you get checked? That was the most important part was the check up because they give you birthcontrol so your uterus can heal up and see if you can have children. But now what you need to do is get an appointment with a obgyn and let them check you to see if everything is okay because sometimes depending on the situation an abortion can prevent further cases in rare situations. And it depends on how far along you were. It's not really surgical becuause it's a vaccuming procedure, so you might have some scarring tissue that may prevent a further pregnancy, but you need to make an appointment and get that handled before you think about getting pregnant again.

You should have been checked after the abortion to make sure there was nothing that would indicate an infection or scar tissue. Don't blame having an abortion on your inablity to concieve. That you would have to blame on yourself for not taking care of your own reproductive health. See a physician he/she can determine what the cause (if any) for you not getting pregnant is.

Unfortunatly an abortion can affect your future of getting pregnant. Your doctor should have warned you before the surgery. If it's done right you can still get pregnant but in situations you cannot. Talk to your doctor about it. Maybe your just not trying when your ovulating. Good luck!!
