How do i get into my computer's bios to change usb settings from 1.1 to 2.0?
I have usb 2.0 ports but my laptop gives me the error message "a hi-speed usb device is plugged into a non-hi-speed usb hub", whenever i plug in one of my hi speed external devices.
This problem occurred after i had to reinstall windows and reformat my hard drive on my laptop

More than likely what you have there is a hub that is set a 1.1 and isn't 2.0......check the manufacturers website to see if you do indeed have 2.0 connections and which ones they may be (some have both)...and from there you should be able to get to a download to either install the necessary drivers or bios flash or firmware or find out that what its telling you is that the external device is actually not at 2.0

Download drivers from the manufacturer's website.
If this doesn't work, go to PC world or somewhere and see what they can do.
