i am writing a book and i wanna try get it published cause writing is what i enjoy (i know i stand little chance of succeeding) but i was wondering... how many words do average 100 page books have thankx for your help xxx :)

In my experience, publishers tend to want at least 75,000 words (although publishers can vary) - If you are writing a children's book may be less.
Have a look at this site though as it says it will publish novellas (longer than a traditional short story - shorter than a novel)http://www.excaliburonlinepublishing.com

If you feel you have no chance to succeed you wont. Do me a favor and find your confidence... when you find it, you will indeed succeed. Go to message boards for writers and ask the same question as well. TO be honest a great book should have more than 100 pages, I don't think I would be happy reading a book less than that unless it was a cookbook, magazine or something of that sort.

Books are usually more than 100 pages, I think you'll find.
For a guideline, the NaNoWriMo project requires you to write 50 000 words, saying that it's about the length of a short novel or a long novella.

I wrote a book about 200 pages, and had about 42,000 words. That is a children's book however, and the guidelines for adult books are different.
That was also in Courier 12 pt.

The rough average is 400 words per page thus 40,000 of course if you can squeeze antidisestablishmentarinisism (sorry the spell checker just started whimpering) in a few times per page the average plummets.
