I find the concept of someone else preparing my death a little too... risque and personal.

it certainly would be considerate to the loved ones you leave behind. if you have any doubts in your mind as to what families of the deceased might have to contend with, take some time to talk to someone involved in the funeral industry. taking responsibility for your own arrangements when you feel that you're closer to your time to go, unless you're clairvoyant or contemplating suicide, is putting your head in the sand. we all die. our bodies and all we leave behind must somehow be attended to. who better to make those decisions than ourselves.

I think this is a matter of personal preference and opinion...personally i would rather not have to prepare for my own funeral. I mean I would obviously put all my affairs in order, write a will, etc but I would leave the funeral arrangement to my family, friends, etc. And I believe that this is the best way because funeral is a way for people to deal with their loss and their pain and they should have the option of how to deal with that. Of course you can also say that funeral is the last public address you'll ever make...in that case you will want to take matters in your own hands and arrange your own funeral.

It's not an absolute "have to" kind of thing. However, it will be a convenience to your surviving family to already have arrangements done.

Chances are their grieving of your death will be bad enough. They would probably appreciate not having the extra burden of making last-moment funeral arrangements.

I planned mine down to the last detail, even have the C.D."s recorded of all my best songs, and all is paid for already, my kids thought I had lost my mind, the head stone is there with my partner, so figured I have my name on there to and our wedding date, they say, they just hate going there to see DAD and seeing my name, but sad in AMERICA, its my choice, they will be thankful later

yes we should if we want it done correctly. I rather not have my family spend thousands on a funeral when they can just cremate me or donate my body to science. Funerals are too costly these days.

Yes, I mean its our fault they're there. I would make a nice little note to help the process go smoother. AND I would add that I want to be cremated and placed on someone's mantel, whomever it would annoy the most.

I believe that it is our own responsibility to make the arrangements for the way our own body's are put away. If we make our own decisions, then our children/families don't have to make those decisions.
