Type in either the book's title or the author's name in the search engine. If it is a published book, try Amazon.com first.

If you know the title or the author, it will be easy to find it. Just enter the name in italics in a search engine.
If you don't, try to describe it the best you can on here, and hope someone recognizes it.

Post your question on the Library of Congress' website at: loc.gov and you will surely receive more answers than you can use.
