Ovechkin is not doing badly this year. They do not give sophmore player awards, but if they did Ovey would be running a tight race with Sid again this year for his performance. Other teams have his number this year, but that has freed up other players, like Zubrus and Kris Clark, to score goals. Ovey was so amazing last year, but I think it gave people unreal expectations this year; however, hockey is not a one man sport. (By the way, Washington is not a CRAPPY team. They are currently ranked 20th, ahead of former Stanely cup winner Tampa Bay. They just need to find a way to beat Atlanta.)

His main problem is the Caps are a lousy team. If he were on a better team he'd be even more awesome.

He is a star, but hockey is such a team sport you have to have the whole package. One or two stars will not win against a well oiled working team.

I think Ovechkin is doing fine considering that the Caps are an odd team with a very weird fan base. Most Caps games are filled with fans of the visiting team, that's got to be very hard on their players.

Ovechkin has 8 goals at this time. Remember, the season is still very young, and I believe that he will hit the 50 goal mark again this season. Give him time, he will be there. Lets go Capitals!!!

remember he still playing with a crappy team that is actually playing better then most experts thought they would but hes on his way to score over 50 goals again this year just look at his stats in 13 games he has 8 goals on his way for around the 55 mark this year and with 8 assists also on mark for around the 55 assists, then for points his on his way to get at least 110 points so hes still playing great hockey right now. sure right now Sid the Kid Crosby is on route for 120 pts even more the way the Pens are playing with him and Malkin.

Well, he has 8 goals in 13 games. (about 51 goals in a 82 game average). So he's not doing as bad as you might think. We just don't hear of him that much because he plays for a small-market team, and a team that isn't doing good.

He's doing fine. I watched him the other night in Calgary. The opposing teams are paying a lot more attention to him this year. In order to continue at the pace he did last year he'll have to raise his game another notch. That should be no problem as he's only 21.

As others have stated, it's still young in the season but he'll be fine. Caps are still struggling unfortunately and need to get some offensive help in order to help Alex out.

He got off to a bit of a slow start, but recently started picking it up. He's in the top 30, in the points department. Just like Vince Lecavalier, and Joe Thornton who also got off to a slow start.

He's been struggling as of late but others are picking up the slack and their in a good position to challenge for a playoff spot

He'll be fine. He plays on a pretty crappy team with not much offensive help around him. Put him with 2 half decent forwards on a consistent basis and you would see him shine.
