I´m from Spain and many years ago I met a Brazilian teacher in a course in Britain; we still email. If she is an example of how Brazilian people are..... then you are GREAT!!!
I have a Brazilian 14 year old student; he came to Spain just 3 weeks ago and cannot speak Spanish; he also has difficulty with English, he say´s the level is lower there. Anyway, he´s sweet and affectionate and tries so hard to do his best.
About the country itself: what I have seen on TV and what my Brazilian friend sends me by email: beautiful beaches, breathtaking views and kind people.
Hope I´ll go there some day.
Carnaval? No, thanks; I don´t feel comfortable with so many people celebrating. I prefer other things, but it´s ok for your country: it attracts people from all over the world

Pais linda, com pessoal interressante... It's not just jungle, Carnaval and Ipanema. Sao Paulo in one of the world's great industrial and business centers. The gauchos in the south, sipping mate from silver-chased gourds, the Japanese-Brazilian truck farmers producing amazing crops in Sao Paulo state's interior, the gems from Minas Gerais, the Nortistas hacking a living out of the desert-like arid north-east, the Macumbistas celebrating Iemanja and the other Afro-Brazilian deities, capoeira... The Dom Pedro I &II, the ditadura of the '60s, Lula today. The romantic 19th century poets. Bachianas Brasileiras. Antonio Carlos Jobim, Roberto Carlos (and even Wanderleia... "Senhor Juiz, pare agora!"-- ouch!). The known and still undiscovered riches of Mato Grosso.

Brazil is so huge, and there's so much there, that it's a shame that most people only think of Amazonas, Rio's sexy women and Carnaval (although they are spectacular).

I'm from the US, and haven't been in Brazil since I was a kid back in the Sixties, but these are a few of the things I think of when I think about your Brazil.
