I would rather have a tough one than a wimpy one with Clinton like
"Let's make nice with everyone" attitude. It's probably because most liberals have never gotton a spanking as a child. That must be it!

You go girl! We have been messed with for so long that we forgot that "No means NO!" in many ways. Enough is enough and quite frankly I cannot see Al Gore (had he been elected) take a stance as vigorous and appropriate with our enemies. You know what they say... don't mess with Texas.

We've had some great, "tough" Presidents: Washington; Jefferson; Lincoln; Roosevelt; Roosevelt; Truman; Eisenhower; Kennedy; Carter; and Clinton. George W. Bush isn't 'tough' - he's a coward, an incompetent, a liar, and a killer.
There were only two reasons we illegally and unconstitutionally invaded Iraq: 1) the Bush family had a personal vendetta against Hussein ever since Desert Storm; and 2) Cheney wants all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so he and his Exxon-Mobil buddies can get richer and richer and richer.
While Bush will laud the death sentence of Hussein as a 'victory over terror', he has accomplished nothing except to satisfy a personal family grudge between the Bush dynasty and the Hussein dynasty.
The war in Iraq will continue, and NO TROOPS will withdraw until we've sucked every drop of OIL from Iraq's sands. That's why we're there. That's why 3,000 U.S. soldiers have died - so we can all drive around in our $60,000 gas-guzzling SUVs and not have to pay six bucks a gallon for gas like the rest of the civilized world does (except in Venezuela and the middle east, of course).
In collusion with the most incompetent, contemptible, wicked, arrogant, evil, greedy, corrupt Congress in U.S. history, Bush and members of his administration should be tried in an international tribunal for high crimes against humanity, and - if convicted - should hang right alongside Hussein. -RKO-

Bush is a war-mongering coward. He was afraid to serve during the Viet Nam War, choosing to hide instead in the Air National Guard, even going AWOL while going to Alabama to work for a Congressional candidate. He has a lot of nerve asking the military to do something he was too scared to do. He's not even making the decisions, those are made by his co-Presidents, Dick Cheney and Karl Rove. If Judgment Day were tomorrow, Bush and Co. would be sent straight to hell without a chance to even make excuses for asking people to die for oil. Tough my foot!!! And here's another example of misguided conservative Clinton-bashing, blaming Clinton again. Get over it - Clinton isn't president any longer.

And I would rather have a tough, intelligent, fair-minded president than the current one who is none of these. If, as you claim, the liberals were never spanked as a child, then you must certainly have been spanked to the point that all of the good sense was knocked out of you.

"Tough" doesn't usually indicate "Smart"...Bush had every chance to make his point in Iraq, but through blunder after blunder, he has ignited civil war, even more hatred for the U.S worldwide, and has allowed the proliferation of nuclear arms in the Korean peninsula. Saddam never had WMDs, and had more to fear from radical Islam and Bin Laden, then he had to fear from US! Radical Islam threatened his grip on Iraq much the same as it did the Shaw of Iran. Now the ONLY solution to the Iraq disaster will be diplomatic overtures between the Shia and Sunni, which will not be successful because of centuries of hatred. In the end there will be a Shia theocracy in Iraq similar to Iran, and most decidedly anti-American.
"Tough" democratic presidents: FD Roosevelt, Harry Truman, JF Kennedy, LB Johnson. The difference of course being that they were ALSO smart. Truman, Kennedy, and Johnson all served in time of war with distinction. Truman, Capt. Artillery-WWI, -Kennedy, U.S.N. torpedo boat captain, WWII-Johnson, U.S.N destroyer staff officer WWII. Bush ran from the sound of battle, period!

Lets not mistake being arrogant and too stubborn to admit mistakes or listening to other points of view for being 'tough'.

There is a line between tough and flat out being a jackass. Bush crossed that line long before he became president.

Nothing wrong with a tough President, we had some Jefferson, Truman, Roosevelt, Bush is not tough he just won't see the forest for the trees. Listen to him give a speech, that is not the talk of a tough leader but rather an imbecile

It's not that he's a conservative or that he's tough. He's misguided himself and the American people. He's made our nation into a warmongering nation that every hates. I'm sure he has some good attributes, I just haven't seen them.

I have no problem with a tough president.

I have a problem with any elected official who admits to willfully violating federal laws, and who betrays his oath of office, and doesn't expect to stand trial because he claims to be above the law.

In the US, the end does not justify the means, especially when the means are criminal. So, I don't mind him being tough. I mind him being a felon and an oathbreaker.

I got spanked as a child, but since I was generally good it didn't happen often.

how does that correlate to being a wuss?

I don't like the fact that Bush went to war because he had no proof of WMD's, and thus far, he has't handled the situation well over there at all. Wheres his plan? Why is it taking so long? Why aren't out troops well equiped?

He also handled katrina poorly, it took forever to get aid to people who desperately needed it.
