but continues to overheat very fast. Not sure what the problem could be?

That's old for jeep radiator. It's probably half plugged, especially if you put sealer in there. There should be a spring in the big lower radiator hose to keep the pump suction from collapsing it. They get left out a lot.
The key is how fast it warms up. If it gets hot a lot sooner than normal, the engine is making too much heat. If it warms up normally and then gets too hot, it's the cooling system.
If that's the original radiator, it's past it's normal lifespan. Get a new one for $140 and replace it.

Check the radiator hoses. Specially the lower one. When they get weak, they tend to collapse due to the suction of the waterpump. Or even could be the fan isn't working right anymore.

bad radiator , blocked hoses,a bad sensor telling you you are heating up, when in fact tou may be running normally.

check and see if there is some thing restricting the air flow to the radiaor.

have u checked ur timing.if ur timing is off a couple of degrees it will cause ur engine 2 overheat.
