It bugs me as well they put up the Christams lights and decorations in the city centre streets here in Leicester in October! It realy bugs me but it makes people shop, (they were cramming in presents at the check outs last Saturday), and then everybody buys a bunch more nearer the time, it's some marketing ploy I think to make you think you haven't brough enough for Christmas and to spend spend spend (why do you think there is a constant "sale" in the shops from january to August!). I think we should celebrate Halloween and Guy Fawks night properly 1st and then move onto Christmas they are worth celebrating to!

I know what you mean, a few weeks ago I was in a store looking at Halloween decorations, turned to go the the next aisle, and christmas trees were already up. It seems crazy to me that when I was a kid (and that wasn't too long ago) the earliest that christmas things were being sold was the week of thanksgiving.
The truth is that christmas is very profitable these days, and the more time you have to sell a product, you are going to make more money. I love christmas. It is a special time of year. It makes christmas less special if we are going to start getting ready for it in the middle of october! Pretty soon they will be selling christmas stuff all year round.

Because that is called marketing. And it seems to get worse every year. Before I even thought about the holidays, they were putting Christmas stuff out on the shelves in September. Now come on that is ridiculous. You just get done with, "Back to School" stuff and then its the holidays already! Sometimes the commercialism of it all really gets old. But I do have to admit that they market it that way to get you into the mood. And it doesn't help when you to go the store and then your kid is geared up by the time you leave. So hang in there, and just oooh and awww along with your kids about the twinkling lights, while your kids are young, they grow up fast.

They have took the love and joy out of christmas and covered it with commercialism to such a point that it is so frustrating by Christmas time, people are so tired of it. The holidays before are all so rushed. You have no chance to be thankful at Thanksgiving everyone is rushing to get Christmas lights up and the tree....You know, we really need to reflect on the real meaning of Christmas. I think we are going to have a birthday party this year. And give presents in honor of Jesus' birthday. Make it different. Try to take some of the commercialism out of it. I do agree alot.

I'm a mother,so i know how you feel.
It is annoying to see christmas stock out so soon, because as soon as the kids see it,it's i want this,i want that.
When i was a child, you never saw anything to with xmas, much before the beginning of December.
Greed has taken away the fun of christmas,as everybody is trying to out do one another, and sunday opening as well.
It's not just christmas, where everything is out early, look at any of the celebrations,Easter,Valentines day etc.
It really does make you want to hide your head in the sand until it's over and done with.

I used to work at a gift store, we would start setting up for Christmas in early August! And the reason: It sells! But I did have to look at Christmas stuff for half of the year!! It's ok, though. I love it.

A few weeks before Halloween, my kids (3, 5, and 9) and I walked into a local store that had all of their Christmas decor out. My 3 yr old turned to me and said "Mom, you said it was almost Halloween. You lied!" Try explaining it to a preschooler!

Suppose its partly to do with that film, jingle all the way, man that was good. its to make sure you get what you need before they lower their prices so you lose more money. i know theres longer queues at christmas but its to save that extra tenner to get a movie to watch. Sorry, was just rambling. anyways i think its still stupid. And argos is stupid for selling the early Xmas tinsel. (Expression)
