My husband and I foundout that we are pregnant again not too long ago but made the decision not to tell anyone just yet. x-mas is coming up and we are a little short on cash. I know that my mom and dad absolutely LOVE being grandparents, all they talk about is their grandkids. So I am thinking of wrapping up a small box with a pic of an ultrasound or putting it in a card, with it saying "merry christmas, you are going to be a grandma and grampa again!" Or something similar. I think it sound really cute, do you have any other ideas of how to present it during x-mas, or what to write on the card/in the box?

Oh I was also thinking of putting-
YOUR granparents again!! ANd
"Your invited to the birth of "babys name"
cause we live outta state(hubby's in the military) and lived out of state when my son was born so they were not able to be there during the birth, but we will be moving back to the same state before the baby will be born!!

I helped a friend tell her parents at xmas and this is what we did for one of them (her mom)....
We got a beautiful card that had a lovely sentiment from a child to a grandparent, and left it blank, we then got another one to be from her older child, and had the lil girl sign it. When she presented the card to her mom, she looked surprized, and told her granddaughter that she forgot to sign her name. The lil girl smiled and said, "no I didn't, that card is from the new baby in mommas belly and doesn't know their name yet."
For her dad, who was in the hospital at the time, we had a nurse come in and check his pulse, and when he asked what was going on, the lil girl said..."well, grampa, we want to make sure that you don't pass out, or hurt your heart again, cause momma says when you find out theres gonna be a baby you might." Not exactly what we had planned for that one, but it was funny! He is quite the joker and we had planned on giving him a gift card to a store with only $1 on it and telling him he could add money for the new baby after he was released...which he ended up doing anyway.....I wish you cauld have seen their faces.

I think that is a great idea...expecially if you are short on cash. Parents of all people know how hard it is around the holidays for families to make ends meet with regular living expenses plus gift giving. If you wanted you could also bake them some goodies to put with it for an extra touch. That's inexpensive and always a hit too. Something I have done before too is get pictures of all the grandkids and either make a scrapbook for them or put them together in a nice collage. You could predecorate a page for the new baby too if you did a scrapbook and add the photo when he/she is born. Just some thoughts. I love creative things like that.

Of course it's a good idea, it will bring the kind of emotion that should be present at EVERY Christmas Celebration.

Remember: Christmas not about gifts, or who bought what for who...it's about family and tradition!

Good for you for coming up with such a great idea. If you have the kind of family that does put a lot of weight on the "GIFTS" they will understand how you need to be saving money right now, and giving them the gift you did, is not only the announcement itself, but it's also a silent reminder that you will be a little money tight for the next year or so!

Congratulations - and the best of luck to the both of you!

That is a wonderful idea..thay can't ask for a better christmas gift! I think putting an ultrasound pic in a little box wrapped up is perfect...that would be very unecpected and they would love it!

To be honest I don't think a birth announcement is a gift even if your parents do love being grandparents... especially if they already have other grandchildren. It's an announcement you would have made anyway.

I totally understand being short on cash and perhaps suggesting to the rest of the family that you do a gift exchange this year, or to keep gifts under a certain dollar amount, or to all agree not to exchange gifts this year.

Alternatively you can give gifts of time, as in coupons to help out with chores etc.

But a birth announcement that you would have made anyway... in my mind that is not a gift. I think it would be cute to wrap it up and make the announcement in that fashion, but you should have a real gift too or make other arrangements as noted above.

The Great News should be given to the grandparents as soon as possible so they can help support you both financially and emotionally. Pregnancies should not be kept a secret especially not from people who love being grandparents. Give them the joy they deserve and simply let them know that there is a new little bundle coming for them to love.

nicely on grandparents day, provide them a %of the ultrasound. or possibly provide them a cutting-edge with a white toddler jumper they could beautify, connect a be conscious that asserts something approximately having somewhat one. or say, we've a cutting-edge for you, regardless of if it wont be right here for 9 months and spot how long it takes them to seize on. perhaps get them shirts that have your first childs hand and foot prints on one side. then connect a be conscious to the different side say this is for toddler quantity 2.
