I have the most beautiful, new baby girl along with the most beautiful wife!!! I have a mortgage and a small car payment along with household expenses. I currently make 23k a year and my wife is staying home for at least the first 2 years with our daughter because she was born 2 months early. A CDL will get me a job making at least $42k a year. The downside, I won't be home much during the 5 month class and I may not like the job as much as my current job, though it pays less. I am a family man, 35 years young. One income is hard, but I love coming home to my wife and baby every day and spending quality time with them on the weekends! A trucking job will pay more, but I will be away from them, which to me is heartbreaking! My wife had c-section so I cook and clean when I get off work so she can concentrate on our baby. I am an aspiring cartoonist, so I'm hoping some of my work will pay off soon for us. But also with a CDL, I can work locally. So what should I do?

If you can do what the guy says and study form home, do it! You must better your family! Though money is not what makes the world go round, it is very much needed to better the family. No one likes past due and cut off notices. It can be very straining on your wife too since she's home raising the baby. You don't want her stressing around the baby because she's wondering how the bills will get paid. And congratulations and please continue to keep spending time with your family! It's really needed these days as divorce and home splits are becoming more common.

Hi Dad!!

Congratulations on that beautiful combination of daughter and wife!!!!!!! Best wishes!!

23K will have to do until a time when something opens with the cartoons. Money is not what will make you happy. Get by and save the little you can until you can do something with the cartoons. Contact people and let them see your work.

You could become a cartoonist and be at home and work from home. Take care of your family and enjoy them. Life is a gift and passes so quickly. Money does not make the world. Love does.

Get the CDL it will be worth it in the long run. Like you said you will be able to work locally so you will still be with your wife and baby and at the same time make more money for all of you.

Well I can understand where you are coming from its not a easy thing trying to deceid what to do with things like this. My hubsand and I made the choice for him to take a job where he will have to be away from us we have to young little boys but for awhile to better the family its not easy by any means but we are doing it for the good of the family in the long run. If you get your CDL it will help in the long run you can use it for many other jobs just not trucking long haul but there is local jobs around you I'm sure. Good Luck

Take the class. It's all for all of you down the road.

Time away fro each other is good, as long as your not cheaters, and it doesn't sound like you are.

But you need to think of the future and you need to make enough to keep the family going.

The away time will only make the heart grow fonder!!

It's nice that you have helped the wife with the cleaning and such, but she should beable to get back with that real soon. Think of all the new mom's out there that don't get the help, and they strive on.
Good Luck

If you get the CDL, and are gone from the family more, your marriage is going to suffer. Choose the most important things at the present.....your wife, and baby. The money will come in time. Take care of things at home, and when the door of opportunity opens for more money, then take it. Good Luck!!

maybe you can still go to school but not right now..let your wife get her strength back....will probably take a couple more months and then you can take the 5 months to get some training. If you can support your family and live a better life you should go for it.Take some time to think about it and discuss it with your wife.Let her help make the decision as it will effect her also. good luck with the beautiful wife and baby!

You are a very blessed man. All the people that I have seen in this situation that end up doing it for the money regret it in the end. Chances are you will make double but you will also miss out on double. It is so not worth it. Look for other means of income. Try to work from home...online....Good Luck and God Bless,

You don't have to go to a driving school to get your CDL, get the book of all the rules then study up on it then go to
testprepview.com or cristcdl.com to take practice tests, these tests are pretty accurate. after you get the "written" part of the test go rent a truck with air brakes with a trailer that has glad hands to take the driven part. In the line of work that I do, I needed a CDL with an X endorsment, it took me about six weeks to get and it cost me about $172 wit no proper traning or driving school.

Good Luck
