because someone else might have a better answer that you like more. Its happened to me before. I wanted to pick an answer right away but after the 4 hours passed I ended up picking a better answer.

I understand your frustration as I am in the same boat my friend. Maybe, by some strange miracle, an amazing answer will blow your mind if you wait 3 and a half more hours.

you have to wait so long to give other people a chance to answer the question...who knows maybe a better answer will come along in the wait.

i dont like it either but it's just to receive a wider spectrum of answers.. particularly if it's a serious, serious questions, like the ones on the brink of divorce.. so, the asker has ample time to weigh all possible answers...
