A little help here, please?

Which of the 22 versions of iMac did you purchase?

Some could be changed, or have RAM added, while some have the CPU welded to the main logic board! The 'iMac' name represents computers that have been built since 1998, in over 22 versions, with several major design changes.

You really must be more specific, like give us the model, serial #, and features or options included, case design type, and even the color of the case!

The whole idea is that macs do not need, or are capable of, upgrading. Not anything major at least. It is quite a build-in box so next time around you should consider building up a clone machine, everything is exactly what you make of it. Imac is a fine piece of equip, though... Had to add up that if you really gonna dig up to it then swap for linux, too and get really free for once and for all. Won´ t cost you a dime.

Go online get the specs.
External hard drive yes, memory upgrade yes, video card and cpu upgrade no.
Thats a downfall of all in one units. If the monitor dies, hard drive dies, video chips die, sound chips, any other stuff dies you are in trouble. In a Windows based p.c. you might have more configuration problems but you can choose from 30 different video cards, sound cards, processors, other card add ons etc.
Atleast you can buy more software for a Mac than you use to. I can remember when there were was only 75 titles for a Mac.
I can remember when you couldn't buy any hardware for a mac expect for mac stuff. I am glad you can buy HP printers and other other equipment. They almost went bankrupt but they are doing so much better now. IBM computer started ok then they went proprietary than back to industry standards.
