i suggest - any desktop compy with lots of learning games because desktop is more durable (not too sensitive) and also its easy to get repaired or it's spare parts are cheap...

A computer is a computer - it's the software that makes the difference.. whatever computer you buy them now is going to be so out of date by the time they are going to be able to use it properly so I wouldn't worry about getting any high end stuff, just make sure if you are going to let them surf the web that you are with them or at the very least you have a decent parental control program on there... why not let them have your computer and get yourself a new one?

I would definitely buy a desktop model so you will always know where the kids are when they are online. I think any of the most popular brands are good: HP, Compaq, Toshiba, etc. The price for low end should be $400.

for young kids i'd suggest one of those v-tech things out of argos. Children don't use computers properly and you'll just end up with loads of problems with it (unless you can sort them all out!) problems such as deleting/moving files and stuff like that. Wait for a few years til they're at high school!

Try Dell, they have some great offers on at the moment including free upgrades. It is worth a look. I bought one in April and it is fantastic.

Do you really want your children hanging around inside all the time, getting obese and risking their cardiovascular systems promoting diabetes by late teens, and having unsatisfying personal lives?
Get them a dog, not a killing machine.
