huckel's rule applies to aromatic & antiaromatic compounds, but the compound is nonaromatic when its not planar. how do i know if it's planar just by looking at it? what about ions?

Huckel's rule has many exceptions (even flat systems such as pyrene can violate Huckel's rule) There is also reference to determining aromaticity in fullerenes which are not flat.

don't you mean s orbitals hold 2 electrons and p orbitals hold 6?
