why do most teams have punters as their holders

who decided to make a punter a holder, or is their a specific reason?

in 90s and b4

starting qbs and sometimes back up qbs would be the holer

how come now punters are holders?
(and rarely starting qbs or backups)

punters catch the ball and position it for a punt making them the best choice to catch the deep snap, get it down and have the laces out in time for the kicker to kick. a quarterback would be a close 2nd in the sense that they catch the ball from the deep snap and get ready for a hand off or a throw.

just my perspective on it.

THE REASON IS SIMPLE A PUNTER IS EXPENDABLE YOU DON'T WANT TO THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY ON A QUARTER BACK AND CHANCE HIM GETTING INJURED THE KICKERS AND PUNTERS ARE ON THE FIELD FOR ONE PLAY THE REST OF THE TEAM IS OUT THERE TO TAKE THE HITS
