Federal law prohibits posession of any firearm by a felon.

Voting rights may be restored to felons, on a state-by-state basis.

It depends on the state.

48 states deny ex-felons the right to vote, either permanently or until they jump thru certain administrative hoops after their sentence is up.

I don't know how many states deny ex-felons a gun license, but I'm sure there are some out there that allow non-violent felons to purchase a handgun, even if there are restrictions placed on it.

Iowa allows felons to vote. Handguns, I do not think so. Felons who commit violent or drug felonies must be banned from having guns. All felons need to be banned from voting.

Depends on the laws.

Someone who is convicted and then pardoned can definitely vote or purchase handguns.

In texas a felon can have a gun (not sure if it's long gun only) in his house if it's been 10 years since either the conviction date or when he got out of jail. (never bothered to memorize that since I'm not a felon nor do I associate with them)
