The only way to connect would be using a wireless network. Turn on your laptop, and enable the wireless card. Tell it to detect any networks in range. If it does, find out who owns the network and sign up. If you don't want to sign up for another service, get a router so you can connect to the dsl.

1. You can connect via ethernet connection (dsl)
2. Buy a wi-fi router (you will be able to walk inside-outside of your house with your laptop) Secure your network with a pasword or you'll share it with your neighbors.
3. Get a wi-fi card so you can travel in the USA It costs big $$ but you can travel almost anywhere. Will require seperate agreement with another company.
4. Satelite card
5. Dial up

Only option not using your DSL connection is to use dial up, but why would you not want to use the DSL connection?

if the laptop is wireless and you have satellite account you can hook up using a wireless modem, that connects to a usb port.
