It depends on how you change it. All a service gets is about 20% of the fluid out, so you have to do those a lot more often. If you flush it and get all the fluid changed, it can go 60-80,000 miles. More if you spring for synthetic.

If we are talking GOOD preventative maintainence then once a year would probably be ok for most folks. However, conditions have a huge impact on that and oil changes. You also need to have a transmission shop service the transmission so that ALL the fluid is drained and changed and not just the pan fluids!

Some manufacturers require to change the transmission fluid at 30,000 or 50,000 miles others specify that you never have to change it - check what's your car owner's manual says.

replace transmition fluid once a year if you are tuff on accelerator pedal. If not once every 50 000 km is good but dont forget to change the filter when replacing oil

when it starts to look brown you should change the oil and filter,or if you been driving,pulling a trailer in hot weather.
