I think it all depends on where you live, big city, in the country, small town, ect........

It also depends on the childs maturity and level of responsibility. Some teenagers are not responsible enough to be left alone at the age of 16; however there are some children who are responsible enough to stay home alone at age 10.

You have to use your best judgement depending on the child.

Good question. I'm not sure of the legal aspect, but I remember staying home at age 13 when my parents went to the market. Also, my stepdaughter would stay home alone at 13. So, I'm guessing 13 is a good responsible age...

Of course, lock up all your dirty nasty secrets cause when a child is in the house alone, they will EXPLORE

in the military i know that the child has to be 12 years of age to stay alone for 8 hrs. then by themselves oer night they have to be 16. but my parents always left us alone when we were little the ages ranged from 16-3 months.

13, definitely 14, considering i am 14 and just babysat a child that is only 3 years old last night for 4 hours.

I also would like to know this. When I was younger I was babysitting other children when I was 11. Now peolpe are saying that kids should be at least 13

i think in some states, anything under the age of 13 can be considered child endangerment.

for working parents that get off at 5pm home by 6 or 7
plus a cell is handy to have to call parents/ friends
for emergency

i believe it is 12, every state it may be different. and that 12 year old can be responsable for 2 younger siblings but i dont think they can both i be infants

I dint think there is one for staying at home. I think it should depend on if they are responsible enough and can be trusted.
