I have just recieved an email saying that i have won the irish lottery uk. Just wondering if this is a scam. The email uses an original banner and the winning numbers are correct. Also the email provides me with a file number, ticket number and serial number. Is this a scam? It was sent to my inbox not my bulk box.

I had one of those, it looked good, then next day I had another, that also looked good, I think t was almost $2million the first one and just over $1million the second one, not bad eh?
What are the odds of that?
I was tempted to send for them both just to see when they would start asking me to send money to claim, but I sent both to the trash can!!
Who knows, I could have won, but not very likely is it?

Irish Lottery Scam

Who did the email come from? If it is legitimate, the email would come from the Irish lottery company, not some free email server.

If you need to, look at the headers to figure out who the email came from.

The other thing I would tell you is that real lotteries don't send out emails to you unless you've entered in the lottery. So, if you didn't enter, the email's a scam.

Contact the Irish lottery folks (at the REAL site, not thru replying to the email) and ask them. They would be able to tell you if it's real.

Finally, if you decide to reply to them and they want you to send them any money up front, it's a scam.

Did you enter the Irish/Welsh/French/ or any other lottery?
No?
Then it is a scam.
The scams are getting more and more sophisticated but they are still scams.

Scam!
You can follow it up if you like, just do NOT give them your bank account numbers. Tell them to send you a check.
You'll never hear from them again.

How co-incidental!!! I just received one just over four hours ago also. I guess that answers your question---it's no doubt a scam
