Don't listen to the mean person who insulted you
It was the first time I ever heard that question and I found it interesting and funny.
It shows you think deeply , coupled with a great sense of humor.
Oh and I also wonder why the word couple doesn't have 2 letters. (see, you got me thinking)
My attempt at an answer is,...
well. You are right. It is too long a word. Maybe it should be * or something. And couple might be
++. In a bad relationship+-. In a case where 2 people are both screwed up--.

The same reason "miniscule" and "microscopic" are so long and "big" and "huge" are so short. What a language!
