iPod Mini use mini HardDrive, which eats up more batteries but can hold more songs. The iPod Mini doesn't have color screen and much bigger than the iPod Nano. Compared to the preceding iPod Mini, the five control keys on the iPod Nano are even smaller - but as if to compensate, there is now a color display featuring a 1.5" (38 mm) diagonal picture and 187x132 pixel resolution. Besides showing song titles and names, the display can also show photos, though this is of course not always entirely useful due to its size.

The iPod nano has a flash drive in it and the iPod mini has a hard drive and therefore will lose its memory if it is dropped without a case. The nano will not lose its memory if it is dropped without a case. I prefer the Creative Zen MicroPhoto because it costs as much as the nano but holds more songs.

basically it's size. the nano is much smaller than the nano is. you can fit a nano in the 5th pocket of a pair of jeans. you can use the nano for music and photos while the mini only does music. Nano's hold either 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB, mini's hold 4GB or 6GB
Here's a link from Apple's support site with technical specs on all the different models http://support.apple.com/specs/ipo
I hope this helps you

the important distinction is that the I-pod mini makes use of a puzzling pressure and the nano makes use of flash reminiscence to save songs. the ease to it really is in case you drop between the puzzling pressure I-pods, you'll in all chance loose your entire library because the puzzling pressure will be damaged. The Nano has no transferring parts so it isn't likely to take position. playstation i appreciate my Nano 2GB type.
